Installing iFig Reader

The iFig Reader application can be downloaded and installed directly from the militek website. You may also install the application from the DVD that is optionally shipped with your order or obtained from one of our marketing partners. The steps required for actually installing the application are basically the same regardless of the media source - with the differences noted in the following step by step instructions.

NOTE: Throughout the remaining installation instructions, we will distinguish between the 2 different setup processes using the below terms:

Internet Setup. This term refers to the setup initiated from the file called "iFigReaderInternetSetup.exe" obtained from the militek download page.
DVD Setup. This term refers to the setup initiated from the file called "iFigReaderDVDSetup.exe" located on the iFig Reader installation DVD.

Starting the installation process.

DVD Setup. To start the installation process, simply insert the DVD into your drive. If the program does not automatically begin the installation process, navigate to your DVD drive and double-click on iFigReaderDVDSetup.exe.

Internet Setup. After navigating to the militek download page, click on the download iFig Reader icon. You will be presented with the following download dialog box.

If you click on the "Run" button, the download and installation process will begin immediately. If you click on the "Save" button, the file called "iFigReaderInternetSetup.exe" will be saved to the location of your choice. If you choose the latter option, you will have to double-click the downloaded file to begin the installation process.

Detecting and installing the .Net Framework 2.0

After the iFig Reader installer application has been initiated, the installer examines your system configuration to determine if the .Net Framework 2.0 or higher is installed on your machine. If it is already installed, this entire step is complete. If it is not installed, you will be presented with one of the following paths depending on the type of setup you are performing.

Internet Setup:

You will be presented with the following dialog boxes.

If you press Cancel, the iFig Reader installation will stop. You will need an active internet connection to continue. If you press OK, the system will first check for an active internet connection. If it finds one, it will begin the download process directly from Microsoft.

This is the end of the Internet Setup steps.

DVD Setup.

You will be presented with the following dialog box.

If you press Cancel, the iFig Reader installation will stop. If you press OK, the next step will continue.

This is the end of the DVD Setup steps.

The remaining steps are the same for both types of setups.

The compacted files will be extracted to a temporary location on your machine.

After the extraction process completes, the .Net Framework installation wizard will start. Press the "Next" button to continue the installation.

Read the .Net Framework license agreement, click the "I accept the terms of the License Agreement" check box, then click the "Install" button.

The installation will continue.

When the .Net Framework is installed, you will be presented with the following dialog box. Click the "Finish" button.

This step is now complete.

Detecting and installing SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Service Pack 2 (SP2)

The installer then examines your system configuration to determine if SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with SP2 is installed on your machine. If it is already installed, this entire step is complete. If it is not installed, you will be presented with one of the following paths depending on the type of setup you are performing.

Internet Setup:

You will be presented with the following dialog boxes.

This is the end of the Internet Setup steps.

DVD Setup:

You will be presented with the following dialog box.

If you press Cancel, the iFig Reader installation will stop. If you press OK, the next step will continue.

This is the end of the DVD Setup steps.

The remaining steps are the same for both types of setups.

The installer will extract the compacted files to a temporary location on your system. When the extraction process is complete, you will be presented with the following dialog box. Press the "OK" button.

The SQL Server 2005 Express Edition installer will continue the installation process automatically. It will first install all prerequisite components.

Then it will install the remaining components.

Once SQL Server 2005 Express Edition completes, the dialog box will automatically close. You will not be prompted with a finishing dialog box. This step is now complete.

Detecting and installing Microsoft Report Viewer.

The installer then examines your system configuration to determine if Microsoft Report Viewer is installed on your machine. If it is already installed, this entire step is complete. If it is not installed, you will be presented with one of the following paths depending on the type of setup you are performing.

Internet Setup:

You will be presented with the following dialog boxes.

This is the end of the Internet Setup steps.

DVD Setup:

You will be presented with the following dialog box.

If you press Cancel, the iFig Reader installation will stop. If you press OK, the next step will continue.

This is the end of the DVD Setup steps.

The remaining steps are the same for both types of setups.

You will be presented with the following dialog box. Press the "Next" button to continue.

Read the Report Viewer license agreement, click the "I accept the terms of the License Agreement" check box, then click the "Install" button.

The installation will begin and continue until this component is installed. When installation is complete, you will be presented with the following dialog box. Click the "Finish" button.

This step is now complete.

Installing iFig Reader.

If all prerequisite components are installed, the iFig Reader application will begin its installation process. You will be presented with the following dialog box. Click the "Next" button.

Read the iFig Reader license agreement, click the "I agree to the terms of this License Agreement" check box, then click the "Next" button.

Enter your name, and optionally your company name in the provided text boxes then click the "Next" button.

iFig Reader is now ready to be installed. Click the "Next" Button.

The installation process will begin.

Once finished, you will be presented with the following dialog box. Click the "Finish" button.

iFig Reader is now installed.
