Starting an Inspection Session

Inspection Session's are the cornerstone for managing your parts identifications. To open an iFig Set, you must first tell iFig Reader some information regarding what end-item you are identifying parts for. iFig Reader uses this information to render compatibility icons based on cross-referencing the end-item NIIN with the iFig Set's UOC assignments.

To start a new inspection session, simply click the "Begin New iFig Session" from the iFig Reader Navigation Tab.

A new form will open.

You must identify the end-item that you are identifying parts for. To do this, you first select the option button you wish to use - either NIIN or Model Number. The form defaults to having the model number selected, but you can change this to NIIN if you desire. The drop down box will automatically complete your selection as you type in the drop down box. Optionally, you can click the drop down arrow, scroll through the various selections, and click on the end item of your choice.

After a NIIN or model number is selected, the system will move the cursor to the workorder text box provided the End-Item NIIN is associated with only one model and usable on code (this is the case in nearly all instances). When this occurs, the Usable On Code drop down box is disabled and the UOC is selected for you automatically.

It is a good idea to enter a workorder number in the appropriate text box. That way, if you want to stop your inspection session and return to it later, you will be able to find the inspection session easier. If you choose not to enter it now, you can always enter it later by selecting the Edit Existing iFig Session button located on the iFig Reader Navigation Tab.

When you are finished entering the required data - simply click the "Create a New Session" button. iFig Reader will start a new session and will load the applicable iFig Set.
